Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Diesel Technician B is responsible for performing preventative maintenance service, inspections, diagnosis, and repair under the supervision of senior maintenance personnel. The Diesel Technician B works as a member of the Liberty Waste & Recycling team and reports to the Liberty Operations Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works under limited supervision to complete maintenance and establishes procedures for task completion
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance services
• Inspect, diagnose and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign necessary repairs
• Estimate time and material cost for repairs and requisition of new parts
• Effectively communicate equipment status and repair progress to maintenance team and respective departments as needed
• Performs all work within standard repair times
• Conduct daily inspections and safety checks on vehicles
• Assists senior mechanics in completion of project work
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other safety standards
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the US
• Valid driver license
• Minimum 2 years of mechanic experience
• Skill in operating tools needed to complete necessary repairs
• Ability to diagnose defects and repair various heavy machinery
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position as needed with or without reasonable accommodations, including lifting items over 20 lbs
