Waypoint 2 Space exists to offer immersive and entertaining space flight simulations to millions of consumers while at the same time offering industry-standard astronaut training services to the growing private commercial space exploration industry. It is the only company in the U.S. to have secured FAA Safety Approval for four spaceflight training programs. This allows it to offer once-in-a-lifetime “Space Experiences” and REAL spaceflight training to the public in a family friendly venue.
The company’s 35,000 sqft Space Experiences Center (SEC) is designed to offer visitors a full range of unique experiences from Indoor Skydiving, to Lunar/Martian gravity runs/climbs, full motion spaceflight simulators, space suit VR experiences, Ropes course, 400 foot Zip line, Space Escape rooms, and a Modular EVA Training System straight from NASA for simulated spacewalks.
Our mission is to ignite curiosity and inspire the next generation of explorers through interactive simulations of space, lunar, and Martian environments. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated General Manager to lead our team and ensure a world-class experience for guests of all ages.
Job Overview
The General Manager will oversee all aspects of our space-themed entertainment center, including staff management, guest satisfaction, operations, and crisis management. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and exceptional organizational skills to ensure smooth daily operations and an unforgettable guest experience.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of 35+ employees, including department heads, customer service representatives, and technical staff.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of staff.
- Manage employee schedules, payroll, and HR-related tasks.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that aligns with company values.
Operational Oversight:
- Ensure smooth daily operations across all departments, including HR, IT, security, maintenance, and customer service.
- Monitor and optimize operational efficiency, focusing on safety, quality, and guest satisfaction.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement of supplies.
Guest Experience & Crisis Management:
- Create activity customer flow management map.
- Create a welcoming environment for all guests, ensuring a safe, educational, and entertaining experience.
- Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Develop crisis management protocols to handle emergencies, including medical, technical, and security incidents.
Strategic Planning & Financial Management:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
- Manage budgets, track financial performance, and report on key metrics.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and revenue-generating opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Hospitality, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in a management role within the entertainment, hospitality, or retail industries.
- Proven experience managing large teams and multi-faceted operations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and crisis management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire both staff and guests.
- Proficient in payroll, HR software, and general IT systems.
Preferred Skills
- Passion for technology, space exploration and/or education.
- Experience in themed entertainment or attractions management.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Adept at crisis management and handling stressful situations
