The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. Facilities Management is responsible for the effective operation of Irvine campus buildings, grounds and utilities; for providing a safe, functionally suitable and aesthetic environment in support of academic, research and public service programs of the University. Providing comprehensive management of campus facilities requires the employment of approximately 325 personnel ranging in classification from custodians and groundskeepers to more technical skilled crafts such as electricians and plumbers, and professional design staff and engineers. These services cover more than 150 buildings of approximately 6 million gross square feet, and1,475 acres of grounds. Facilities Management has an annual operating budget exceeding $80 million in expenditures, with operating funds of $30 million and $15 million for reimbursable campus activities. Project Services a construction department within Facilities Management manages a portfolio of major infrastructure and renovation projects totaling $200M per year.

Under supervision, the incumbent serves as a working Assistant Supervisor of the fume hood and exhaust fan are of the HVAC shop. The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for planning and organizing the activities of the fume hood and exhaust fan mechanics. The Assistant Supervisor will plan, organize, and participate in the efficient maintenance and repair of all campus fume hood and exhaust fan systems. The incumbent will implement and oversee the Tiscor comprehensive preventative maintenance program to provide equipment reliability. The incumbent is responsible for accurate record keeping of repairs and maintenance of a spare parts inventory.

  • Two years-technical school training or job related equipment-training seminars in HVAC or five years working in the HVAC field. Required
  • Skill in the use of basic hand and power tools found in the HVAC industry. Required
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Required
  • Valid California drivers license. Required
  • Ability to wear respirator. Required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to function effectively in a team environment. Required
  • Establish and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with co-workers and the campus community. Required
  • Effectively communicates orally, in writing and electronically. Required
  • Ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities. Required
  • Ability to plan, organize, control, all aspects of the preventative maintenance program for the campus exhaust systems. Required
  • Competency in the utilization of MS Excel. Required
  • Familiarity with campus mechanical spaces, fumes hoods and exhaust fan systems. Preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Preferred
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems, safety procedures, and laboratory entry protocol. Preferred
  • Intimate knowledge of ASHRAE 110-1995 performance testing procedure for fume hoods. Preferred
  • Ability to work in morgues/gross anatomy/pathological laboratories and other similar environments Preferred

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $48.80- $48.80 (Hourly).
