The Corn Breeding and Genetics program at the Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a field research technician to support corn pollination, phenotyping and seed and sample processing activities at the West Madison Ag Research Station. This position will begin late September 2024 and have a 2 year term. Starting and ending dates are flexible. Interested candidates will be needed for 40 hrs/week including some weekends during the busiest times.

Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Ecology, Fisheries and Wildlife or related field
Significant experience in field corn breeding research including pollination, hand harvesting of grain and silage samples, plant phenotyping and germplasm inventorying and handling is required.
Drone pilot certification is required at the time of hire. Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
Ability to obtain driving authorization from UW to drive project vehicles/equipment
Normal hours are 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends may be required for this position.
Full Time: 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
