Job Description
As a Sustainability Manager, you will be assigned to support a set of specific customers to drive waste reduction strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives.
Local to the area preferred as familiarity with the logistics is a plus
You will leverage your experience to support waste management activities and utilize best practices to support our government and commercial customers.
Working with the site leadership as a business partner with our customer, you will be an integral part of a team to assist in establishing policies, setting direction toward execution, and reporting on monthly progress to established goals.
The SM's duties will also include assisting in researching, developing, and implementing waste reduction programs that improve our customer's environmental impact without detracting from other business goals.
This role will also support ensuring adherence to all laws and industry regulations. Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and present waste audit data
- Research and design recycling programs for specific industries
- Implement programs onsite, working hand in hand with our Project Managers onsite and customer representatives
- Create an education training program and awareness
- Participate in industry tradeshows and conferences
- Audit, analyze, and report new program results
- Strong customer service skills and ability to telephone and meet with busy clients and their end-users to discuss recycling programs and to obtain permission to implement diversion programs.
- Ability to be persistent, respectful, and tactful.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining contact with Project Manager on important issues.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Proficient in the English language; reading, writing and speaking
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.
- Master's degree from a credible university with a focus on Sustainability/environment/Business and Marketing
- Successful implementation skills are required - diplomacy, tact, and perseverance.
- Must be results-oriented, take initiative, and be self-motivated
- 3-5 years minimum on a position focused on dealing specifically with customer service or customerrelated activities
- 3 years of minimum experience with a focus on - waste management, recycling, food composting
- Ability to obtain security background clearance to access customer facilities, as required. -
Knowledge of local recycling facilities/landfills/WTE facilities, etc.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certified or ability to obtain them within 90 days of hire
