The Victim/Witness Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and members of the community who are, or have been, a victim of a crime. This position assists victims in understanding the criminal justice system, and provides advocacy, support, information, and guidance to primary and secondary victims of crime. The Victim/Witness Coordinator also works with, trains, and acts as the primary caregiver for the Investigations Division therapy dog during and after work hours. This position also maintains statistical data regarding services provided to the community. This position works with the public, and may be exposed to potentially hostile or emotionally charged individuals. Additionally, the position incumbent is regularly exposed to sensitive and disturbing content related to criminal activity, including details about serious injuries and crimes.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field. Education may be substituted for experience, with one year of experience for one year of education. One year of experience with Microsoft Suite or similar systems. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Two years of experience in a Human Services or Law Enforcement related field.
